Excessive steam in exhaust on 96 GT-40

I have a 96 ski nautique and it has developed an extreme amount of exhaust steam. I have inspected the impeller, changed the thermostat, taken temp readings off of the exhaust manifolds and risers as well as exhaust hoses and all are between 100 and 130 degrees. The boat runs between 160 and 180 for temp. Anyone experience this, or have some things I could check out to solve this embarrasing issue. Last fall on the colder mornings it was bad enough to engulf the skier during startup!!!!
    Thanks,
    Scott

It's all about the outside air and what it's doing. Cooler more humid days will make it worse. Makes for a cool fog show when you get to ski through it. Have fun, it's fine.

The muffler holds some water when idling. It gets warm. Burning gasoline creates CO2, and water vapor, H20.
If the dew point is close to the actual temperature, dumping a far amount of hot water and hot exhaust is going to create a "steam" cloud.
If engine temp is normal, and the exhaust hoses, and manifolds are staying cool, no problem.

installing a "Fresh Air Exhaust" will push the exhaust gases a little deeper in the water which should cut that "steam" down... havent installed one yet on mine but it is on the list, rode behind a friends 89 2001 who had it installed and no smell or anything while surfing.

I love Fresh Air Exhaust, but you don't want one on a Ski Boat. It goes too fast to work well. Also the FAE is meant for Surfing and Not Skiing IMHO>

FAE will also change a ski wake and boat handling.
