    Carburator Trouble, I think

Looking for help. I have a 92 SN with a 351 and 4bbl. It starts right up when cold but after running for awhile when you stop its hard to restart. I have to open the throttle up all the way and then it starts and runs rough. Once you get up to speed it smooths out. Any thoughts? I have tried carb cleaner and also ran a can of Sea Foam through it. Any threads on carb rebuilding?

Sounds like a carb issue for sure. Get a "marine renew kit" from Holley for that carb, and if you do it yourself, use/replace as much as you can. I think after a disassembled mine, I let it sit in A can of cleaner over night, then compressed air dried it. A marine kit has more items in it then a standard street kit.

When in doubt tear it apart. Found out that there was a little bit of dirt keeping the float from shutting of the fuel in the secondary. So at idle it was flooding out and then when I shut the engine off the fuel would continue to flow into the carb resulting in a very rich mixture. I took the float and needle valve out, cleaned everything out and put back together. Runs like a champ again. Time to test it out tomorrow with an early morning pre work ski. Hope mother nature is cooperative with flat water.
