Freeze Plug

So I pull my boat out last weekend for the first run of the season and I notice after I got it started up that a freeze plug popped out over the winter. I had the boat winterized so I am hoping nothing is cracked. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on putting a new plug in and what do look for / do when I get the boat started up again? Oh yeah, its a 88 SN 2001.

If you can get to it you can use a socket and extension(I know it is shade tree). You may can rent or borrow an installation tool from your local parts house. It has been my experience that if the freeze plugs are popped out you probably have other damage. Hope not though. Keep an eye on your oil for water, when you crank it up. Good luck

It works

Thanks for the advice. I popped a new plug and sure enough the boat works great. There doesn't seam to be any water leakage anywhere, oil looks good and engine runs smooth. However, it does seam to be running a little hotter than normal(200), and my voltage meter is showing the batter around 8-10 volts. At least it's running.

If it's showing that low of voltage, don't trust the temp gauge. The lower the voltage, the higher the temp gauge will read...
