    Ballast pump problems

The pump for my belly ballt tank will empty but not fill. I know it's not broken because it will empty. Is there some kind of switch I need to change? Any advice would be appreciated thanks!

Has the impeller been changed? Maybe it is too worn to lift the water?

Well it's not even trying to work. The button lights up but no sound is heard. If I hold the button to drain the tank I hear the pump.

Take the lead from the starboard or port pump plug it into the belly pump and try to fill whatever tank you switched to. The plugs as very easy to get to and one will reach easily. Then you at least will know of the pump is bad or the switch.

When you say lead do you mean the electric wire or the pipe.

Which one costs less to fix?

Each pump has a grey covered wire complex going to it. Trace it back about 10-12 inches to its plug. Just unplug the wires from the port pump for example and then plug its hot wires into the belly plug. The plugs are all the same for each pump so interchanging them is easy, just in my case my port wire had more slack in it than the starboard so I used it as the new test power source. Also dont forget to check the circuit breakers at the helm. There are separate breakers for each pump. In my 220 they are at your feet under the steering wheel. They are the push button type so they will reset by pushing in like a GFI if they blow. Mine did not but it is a good check point. Since you hear it emptying then the breaker at the battery box must be ok. Good luck!!!

Last question. Where are the pumps located?

In the engine compartment, should be easy to find with the engine compartment open and listening for the noise of the pumps.

They are mounted on the foward wall of the engine compartment below the ski pylon.

I think button has button must be loosely connected.

Thanks to all that helped me with this. I now have it worked out. It was the relay in the power management box...19 bucks and a little elbow grease was all it took.
