    2010 SAN 230 Drive shaft leak-HELP!

I recently bought a 2010 SAN 230 team edition from a friend. The boat sat pretty much all summer until the end of August when I bought it. The boat has been very well maintained and have been riding behind it for 2 years now without any mechanical problems. After I got done riding tonight, I pulled the boat into my dock to cover it for the night. I noticed the bulge pump was kicking on about every 5 minutes and emptying water for about 10 seconds each time. After looking around for a while and watching this go on for an hour I decided it was definitely the right move to put the boat on the trailer. When I pulled the boat out I noticed a nice stream of water coming from the drive shaft which was very warm, obviously coming from the engine compartment. Being pretty new to the boat scene, I'm guessing the seal is bad on the drive shaft. Maybe from sitting all summer it dried out? Does anybody have any input on this? Any advice or past experiences would be appreciated. I dont have a nautique dealer anywhere around me. Thanks!

If you have dripless packing, (and it sounds like you do) it gets lubed from the raw water system and dumps to the sea.

You need to look elsewhere for your leak.

It does have dripless packing. I was told by a boat mechanic to check the hardware around the drive shaft to make sure nothing came loose. He also suggested to check the cooling hose on the packing system if there is one. The water seems to be coming in under the engine. There is a small trace of dirt on the bottom of the hull where the water is leaking after pulling the boat out of the water. It's coming from the bottom side of the drive shaft where it comes through the hull. This leads me to believe that something is loose or needs replaced.
