Boat dies from idle into gear

Hey all, recently went to a pointless ignition and had someone rebuild my carb because I have been having all kinds of issues this year. Had it out the other day and it ran fine for a few hours and on the way back to the ramp we stopped to empty the fat sacks and when I restarted, it would idle fine but anytime I would put it into gear it would die. The Only thing I was able to do was get it started and put it in gear and then really give it a goose on the throttle to get the rpms up to keep it from stalling. Any ideas?

With the very limited knowledge I have and from the few people I have discussed this with my initial guess is that the mix and the idle are off. If that is indeed the case I understand the concept of how to do it by adjusting the mix screws near the front barrel of the carb and then adjusting the idle set screw but aside from trial and error of what seems torun the best, I would just be guessing and turning screws. Anyone have some advice on the best approach to go about tuning this, if y'all believe that this is in fact the fix for the problem stated above. Any input welcome.

    Thanks
