Throttle Question

I've got a new to me 1999 SN. The throttle feels very loose and sloppy compared to my 1990. Is there anyway to adjust the firmness of the throttle on these boats? I know with the 90, there's the carb spring which makes a difference and I think there's a screw on the back of the throttle.

I couldn't find anything on this one.

Also, the boat came with a tower. I'm not a fan. Any ideas on removal of a tower? What should I do with the holes? Fill them and have them gelcoated? Make an aluminum plate to cover them?

For the throttle, if you remove the throttle handle, and then remove the nuts on the backside of the gunnel that hold the upholstered panel in place, there is a drag adjustment on the throttle handle. I have also added a light spring to reduce the amount of slack in the cable when you go from opening to closing the throttle.

I believe there was somebody looking for a tower for a Ski Nautique about a month ago.

You will probably need two people to remove the screws on the front two tower pads. One person will need to be pretty agile to get up under the bow, especially on the drivers side. The stainless screws are long, and the nuts are prone to galling on the threads, especially if you use a power driver to back the nuts off the screws. I strongly suggest you put a little grease on the exposed threads below the nuts before you remove the nuts from the screw.

Fill the holes with chopped fiberglass, mat fiberglass, or cloth, and a marine epoxy resin. Leave the hole very slightly below the surface. Then gelcoat over the top of the repair. You can get gelcoat from Minicraft of Florida, or Spectrum Color in Seattle.
