    Star Tester or Equus 3145

I am looking at getting a Star Tester 007-0041B or Equus 3145. Does anyone have any experience with either or both.

I have found the star testers on ebay but they are used and untested without the ability to return. Also they are the 0041 model not the B.

The Equus 3145 is available on Amazon. Do I need the cord for the Equus or not? Will it give me all the stored codes? Does it have all the functions of the Star Tester? What is the downside of having this or the Star tester?

    I have a 2000 SAN with a PCM GT-40. It has a EEC-IV as best as I can tell.

    Thanks
    P.J.

I have the Equus 3145 tester. I works fine and for the price is probably the cheapest part you will buy for a GT40 engine.

I have the star tester i bought off of Ebay and it works great for me. The problem with used Star testers, is the cord some times got caught and ripped off the tester. No one repairs them now. I have no experiece with the Equus tester, but the star will put the computer in test mode and individualy check most of the sensors. There are some really good books out there on the EEC-IV and they explain how to even use a dial multimeter to read the sensors.
