Hi guys first time posting on here but have found the site hugely helpful!!

A quick question if I would, I have just brought a 2001 SN 196 with the GT-40 engine in it. And wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction of ordering a scan tool? It seems that you can buy these for cars etc pretty cheap theses days and thought if they weren't too expensive it would be worth having one? As our nearest dealer hew in little on New Zealand is 3+ hours away it would be pretty useful!

I don't know the answer to your question about the scan tool. But if you are having engine trouble with a PCM GT-40 and plug in a scan tool, it will tell you "fuel pressure."

Check out the thread "Equus or Star tester". It is down about 10 threads from yours. Both will work perfect for the GT-40. Because 90 percent of all problems with the GT-40 are fuel related, you should first spend your money on a Fuel pressure tester. Check Daniel C for his posts on how to use the fuel tester. With the fuel tester, and the Equus (because it is the cheapest) and the GT_40 manual downloaded from this site, you should have everything you need.

Thanks for that guys I totally missed that thread on the Equus vs Star Tester, I have ordered a Equus:-) interesting about the fuel pressure will look into this as well:-)
