1999 ECM switch over for ZO

Hey, anyone out there with a GT-40 in the '99 realm switch the ECM to accomodate ZeroOff? Just curious as to the process, costs, etc. I know that it will be steep (from what I understand, probably $3-4K), but we only have 165 hrs on our 1999, and it is in showroom condition. Just thought that maybe that would be the better way to go rather than selling the boat to upgrade to a 200 OB just to get ZO. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated from both sides!

If I'm not mistaken, the engine has to have electronic throttle control to accommodate zero off. It's not just the ECM, it would involve the intake manifold as well.

Another option I'm aware off, Perfect Pass came out with "Z-Box" upgrade. It's supposed to mimic zero off. http://www.perfectpass.com/?q=systems It's a $499 upgrade step from Stargazer.

From what I know, you need to have the 5.7 PCM Excal engine. I have not heard of anyone adding ZO to the GT-40.
Contact Jody Seal at Florida inboards or go to BOS and post a PM for him there. He will tell you if it can be done.

Thanks everyone, yeah, from what I have learned it is pretty much a "no-go."
