Did a search on this topic but can't find anything. I've been fighting a leaking oil pan at the bottom of the pan where the drain plug/hose screws in the pan. I've tried a new plug, washer gasket and even some RTV sealant and it will not seal. Upon further inspection it appears there is a deep groove cut near the hole like a wrench may have cut into the pan. I think thats where the leak is coming from. Anyway my question is how hard is it to remove the oil pan? The boat is a 02 SANTE v-drive. Its a very tight fit and I'm curious if the pan will come out without having to lift the motor using the motor mounts. Thanks for any info

There's all kinds of metal fillers / adhesives that you could use to plug that wrench gouge. I would try that first.
For removing the pan, I'm not familiear with the SANTE..especially that year, but just looking at some V-drives in general, here's an idea. Some pans are complicated; featuring baffles and trap doors that can control the movement of the oil and keep it closer to the oil pump during aggressive driving. Not sure what PCM uses....and how far down in the pan the oil pump is. If there is not much hanging down in the pan, you might be able to unbolt the pan and slide it out the rear if you have enough room in the transome. might require disconnecting the steering cable and dropping the strut???Peace..

I think your main issue is going to be dropping the pan far enough to clear the oil pump. I can't imagine you'll be able to do that without lifting the motor.Previous boats:

Thanks for the tips. I did however fix the leak without removing the pan. I took some JB Weld and filled in the groove and went back a couple days later to put my new drain hose on with a new gasket and it sealed up. I think you would have to raise the motor to get the pan out because its just to close to the bottom. Im glad I didn't have to go that route.
