Looking for help with my winter projects.

Its that time of year again and I'm planning a couple of projects over the winter to spruce up a very dependable 1989 SN and would like some suggestions or tips from anyone who has done these in the past. 1. My grey hull and yellow stripe are starting to fade and need attention. Graphic removal and compounding will start next month. Any tips with products or techniques? 2. I'm looking to replace the carpet. What types of nightmares should I be prepared for. Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

The owner of this '91 decided that wet sanding was the way to go, and his results are outstanding. He was totally restoring the boat, but has now decided to sell it. The thicker gelcoat on CC boats makes for less worries when restoring by means of sanding/compounding. Wet sanding and buffing produced these results:

For the buffing and graphic removal, get a heat gun to help you remove the graphics, etc. I can't remember the exact tape that you have on that boat but if it is the one I am thinking about, you might be better off buffing the tapeline to get rid of it. Be prepared to do a fair amount of buffing and sanding. You will be impressed with the results in the end.

If you do the carpet, plan for alot of time. The best way I have found to do it is to cut it out in as big of pieces that you can so it is easier to cut the size for the new carpet. Check with your local dealer or skidim about a good adhesive. Do not replace the carpet unless you absolutely have to. It is not fun at all!!! Thanks for the replies...good stuff! I figured that the carpet would be a bigger project than it looks...I am already prepared for many hours of hull work. My hull is not that bad but it certainly doesnt look like the boat in those pictures...WOW. Thats what I'm looking for. Any suggestions on where to go to find a list of supplies needed to achieve an outcome like that? (how to prepare hull, grit of paper etc.)? Just as before, any and all suggestions are appreciated!!

you can also try sticker off for removing the graphics. They also make sticker on when re-aply the new ones. It works pretty well.'

once/if you pull up the carpet you may not like the condition the floor is in, just be prepared.

As a man who's about 3/4 of the way through stringer-floor-carpeting replacement on his 84 2001, I'd strongly recomend using selant on any screws you end up re-installing through the floor. Stringer replacement is a large inconvienence.

Hopefully they quit using wood in the floor and stringers by 89.
