2003 SAN - Security Code Not Required.?

Hey Guys,
Just recently we noticed that the security code process is no longer working properly.

If you have entered the code, it doesn't reset even when you switch to "all off". You can simply switch from "all off" to "all on" and hit start without having to enter the code.

Also the dead man switch doesn't seem to work.

Wiring is all factory as far as I can see, and the only changes made is the stereo has the ipod connection mod done and a new sub amp installed.

We only noticed it recently shortly after the boat momentarilly shut down whilst on the water - Nothing worked for 20 seconds or so, then it came good.

Any ideas.?

I don't know what you mean by "also the dead man switch doesn't seem to work." I'm going to just ignore that.

But on your code problem, you need to follow the instructions to program the "primary user code" again. Here is a quote from the book.

"Until a Primary User Code is set, the keyless ignition does not
require the entry of a code to unlock the system or start the engine."

Either a "blink" wiped out the code or maybe you typed the code and button sequence that clears the code.

so the keypad is still working it sounds like so that's good news. i'd try setting your code again. as for the "dead man's switch" aka the kill switch, they typically go bad, but your's sounds like it's bypassed almost if you pull the lanyard and the boat still starts. program a secondary code while your at it that uses none of the same buttons your primary code uses.

My guess is the lanyard is the dead mans switch???? I know some race boats use to have a dead mans throttles!!!

Yes we know he is talking about the lanyard. The point was what does he mean in detail by "Also the dead man switch doesn't seem to work." and how does it relate to the keypad. He never described any symptom related to the deadman/lanyard and clearly its working in the sense that it is allowing his engine to run.
