PCM engine runs hot at idle, 94 ski, cools off when underway

Is this a sign that the impeller needs to be replaced in the water pump. Raw water only cooling. thanks

That's where I would start. There are other possibilities, but impeller replacement is a good start.

1) water strainer
2) impeller
3) tansmission oil cooler
4) t-stat

I had my boat do the same thing before. It was the impellor.Be sure to check for pieces of the impellor in the hoses and cooling system if that ends up being the problem

I had this exact same problem this spring. My dealer lost the o-ring in my water filter, I replaced it and my boat never went a degree above 160 all day yesterday!

Check your water strainer for the oring and make sure the fittings are tight, because it sounds like a slight air leak at idle. But remember you are forcing the water with a ram effect at speed.
