Last fall we bought our first boat a 2000 SAN and love it. It did not come with any factory Ballast so this spring my project is to install a full ballast system and add a second battery. Can anyone point me to a proven set up that has been done on a SAN for ballast. We will want to be able to surf. I have seen a few for similar vintage for Sport can I assume it would be the same for SAN. Many thanks in advance.

Thanks Guys these two posts answers a ton of questions for me and identifies some key best practices. One Question I have with the 2000 SAN when ballast is put in the two rear compartments do we relocate the battery to a new location. My plan is to add a second battery as well.

If the battery is in the same place as it is in a 99 then I think you will be fine. My battery is mounted in a box on top of the floor behind the back seat rest on the starboard side. I have 750s in both lockers and I can fill the starboard one all the way with the battery and hatch lift ram on that side. The lift ram interferes more than the battery but its till fits. I will be adding a second battery as well and I plan to stick it in the same spot on the port side.Shawn
