Wakemakers coming through with some welcome innovation for extra ballast in our boats

I just got off the phone with Jason from wakemakers about piggybacking some ballast into my new 210, and while discussing potential damage to tanks through vapor lock he informed me that within the next week or two they will have a bypass system that can be ordered with your system to eliminate that risk. Completely reversible and easy to install just like their current offering. Price isn't set yet. I for one was somewhat worried about going the piggy back route from the horror stories about tank damage. But this makes me feel a whole lot better about it.

If you we're thinking of upgrading hold off for a bit, I think it will be a solid, cost effective solution to this little issue.

Looks like 2x750#'s and the bow sack will be headed my way in a couple weeks!!!

we are on the same page. i just had same conversation with them last week. i already own the 400 sacs from another boat, hope they will work. i dont think you can fill the 750's all the way anyway so they should be ok.

750's FULL on top of the stock 210 tank?? Maybe full with the tank removed? I've regularly ridden in a '08 210 w/stock and piggybacked 400s on top, and they filled up the storage. Are some of the different model years spec'd with a different rear tank?

I'm guessing atleast 600lbs goes in because I need to cycle my pumps several times to get the 750s full. And this trick will solve the tank collapsing issues.

This, apparently they are longer so they barely fit. None the less a 750 3/4 full is still 562.5 lbs or 325 total extra over the 400's. And unfortunately I don't have 3 small bikini clads at my disposal to make that up just yet, so I need all the help I can get.

I saw that and was quite interested in how it was accomplished. Did you do a write up on the install anywhere? I thought I read all the piggy back forums.

750s fit just fine and will fill nearly all the way (if not completely full). I have them in mine. Used some zip ties in mine to prevent vapor lock.

Not much to write up really but I think it may have been mention before. Basically just take the 1/4" tubing and run it from the inlet to the overflow fitting and secure like the pics show with the string. This way a vacuum can never be created due to the 1/4" tubing running inside the bag from the inlet to outlet.

Removing the hard tanks in the rear was best mod. I have done so far!! Put and Enzo on port side and a 750 on the other.

How are you guys with the 750's on top of stop tanks stopping the "siphoning" effect? Are you putting the fill fitting towards the front? Are you putting valves on the vent hoses? Friend's 210 would start siphoning off the 400's unless you broke it.

I use a couple of 90 degree elbows at the through hull to get the hose as high as possible in the gunnel if that makes sense. I've also heard that you can run the vent hoses to opposite sides of boat. I still sometimes get siphoning if my bags fill weird(meaning the bags are rolled over or folded on themselves) will have to hit the fill again to top off.

@Nordic, are you using 750's on top of stock? Also, I think the overflow setups take longer to fill because the pumps have "head" pressure to fill the bags, so they won't pump as fast for the initial filling of the hard tanks. I'm just surprised the 750's would fit at all in there, I've got 750's in my 230 lockers, and they fill that space up almost 100%, lockers are longer and wider on the 230 (210's are deeper).
Thanks for the pics on your "anti-collapse" setup, I'm going to set up my locker sacs like that as well...

Miljack- yes using the 750s on top. I agree pumps may not be as efficient pushing water through the tank to fill the bags as just filling the tank. But with the impeller design and speed at which they turn I'd think it wouldn't be much. Anyway I got into this debate on the Malibu crew site last year and have been meaning to do a test where I fill my 750 and then take my other 750 and fill it on the floor from the bag in the locker to see exactly how "full" the bag in the locker gets.

Even though the hatch itself isnt overly large, when you take the liner out of the compartment there is a lot of space available for the bag to expand in the 210 lockers.
