    fuel pump??

got the boat out today to get ready for spring. It appears im not getting fuel. Things i know.... when i turn on the ignition i hear the fuel pump turn on, put gas down 'throat' and it ran, checked fuel pressure downstream pump and there doesnt appear to be any.

i really think its the fuel pump in less yall can direct me otherwise.

its an 04 343. is the fuel pump overhaulable or just replace?

Most likely the lower pressure supply pump. The one you hear prime is probably the high pressure FCC pump that supplies the fuel rails.

The high pressure should be inside the FCC canister. There were specific years that had the pump externally mounted on the side of the FCC but that those failed alot probably due to lack of fuel cooling. The low pressure should be right below the FCC. There is a screen on the inlet side of the lower pressure pump.

This graphic might help. The HP pump is in the can. The LP pump is 9.
Please check all your relays....even though you hear something running. I think there are two. That is the more common problem.

When in doubt, start at the tank and move forward. I did have a low
                pressure pump glog up before.

Personally, I think it is easier to start with the pressure test....then electrical.

Graphic is from the parts manual available here: http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/co...Owners-Manuals

There should be one relay for each pump....IIRC mounted on the engine. IIRC, the two relays might be the same. If so, you can swap them to see if the problem changes.

we have a fix and answers. first i took the discharge hose off the low pressure line feeding the high pressure pump in the canister, hit the ignition and got flow, thus i knew that wasnt it. I then used my meter my meter to see it the HP pump was getting juice, the result was unknown. I took the canister off so i could get to it. Had wife hit the turn on ignition while i held it to see if it was doing anything, nothing. I unhooked and took to the work bench, hooked up to the battery charger and it still did nothing. I then poured soem seafoam and penitrating oil down in it and let it sit for 30 min. After that i firmly tapped/beat it on the bench to see if it would break loose and waaalaaa it did. In all of this i took the fuel filter out and man was it dirty, so im ordering a new one.......... not cheap. i was not able to fire the boat up as im waiting for filter but i feel confident it will run well.

                        What's not cheap? ....a filter?

you probably are going to need a new HP pump. If you can, measure the resistance of the pump with an ohm meter and report back to me.

everything installed. turned on ignition 5 times to fill up canister, hit start, fired up like a champ.
