It was too easy, which is why I am worried. I don't have a prop puller but I was out working on the boat when the UPS truck pulled up and decided to try changing out the prop with the tools I had at the boat. Pulled the pin, spun off the nut, 3 light taps on the back of the old prop and it fell right into my hands. Slid the new prop on, spun on the nut and inserted the old pin, 2 min. max. I put 12 hrs on the boat last weekend it's super smooth. Do I need to try to press the new prop on tighter, and get another turn out of the nut? Or did i just get lucky? 2001 SAN 700+ hrs on original prop.

RE: Changed out my prop last week and.....
Sounds about right. Sometimes the prop is on ther tighter than other times. Either way, when running in forward the prop is always tring to push itself further up the shaft, so just check it after a couple times uses to see if you can hand tighten the nut to the next keyway for a pin.

RE: Changed out my prop last week and.....
Cool, that was my plan, just a lucky day I guess. I had about an hour left of daylight and went out to the boat to change the alt. That was super easy, then the UPS truck pulled up with my prop. Got everything done.

I've had it go as you described twice, and never had a
problem.
Then there are those other times when you can't get
the darn thing off . . .
Don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

If you want to get it off as easily in the future, put a little waterproof grease on the shaft before putting the prop on. Then tighten the nut hand tight plus 1 tab on the crown nut. Put the pin and your ready to go. As long as the pin is in the prop isn't going anywhere. Make sure you use a stainless cotter pin or change it yearly. I own a puller but haven't used it in 10 years. I also used to pull the prop off my 66 barracuda every use as there was no prop guard on the trailer.Nautiqueless in San Diego
