    oil change in 08 230 with zr6 390hp

    Would like comments on difficultly in oil change for this motor any suggestions or videos or advice greatly appreciated. oil and filter type and brand also. Thanks

    It is pretty easy if you have the right tools. I have the same boat.

    buy one of these below and put a brass fitting on it that matches the size of your oil pan fitting. run the engine to warm up the oil first and then pump the liqui-vac up and it will suck out all of the oil. I don't recall what the size of the fitting is, but if you look at your engine, the valve is on the starboard side in the middle towards the bottom. it has a cap that unscrews.

    once you do that. take out the oil filter and replace. it is easiest to wrap a plastic trash bag around it and unscrew so that you catch the oil as it is taken off.

    the oil filter is R077001
    Delco PF2
    Motorcraft FL1A
    don't use a Fram. I prefer the PF2.

    the oil is 15W-40
    I use Shell. it is a diesel engine oil I believe. takes about 5-6 quarts, I think.

      I will be getting a liquivac today that is slick, I can't believe I have not heard of that before.
