Upgraded my older 90 SN to a 2000 SN over the winter. When I was familiarizing myself with the engine, cooling system and transmission to get ready to de-winterize it in a few weeks I noticed the impeller placement location. The face of the frickin impeller cover plate is right up tight against the carpet on the front of the motor. Now I know it can be changed and it really should not be difficult. Are there any 2000 SN owners out there who can let me know their trick since the bottom screw in the cover plate can't be taken out with a screw driver. Just looking to get some advice form someone who already knows the trick.

I pull the pump assembly off the engine. Two bolts: the tension bolt on top and a hinge bolt on the bottom. First, mark the top of the pump to ensure proper reassembly. Loosen hose clamps and remove hoses. Inspect them while you're messing with them. Loosen the tension bolt and push the pump toward the engine to remove the belt from the sheave/pulley. Remove bottom bolt. Assembly should come out. It is a little more to do but makes it much easier to access.

I be down the marina today and snap a shot and get back. I'm sure i can figure it out but my older nautique was easy since it actually had a separate pump like jasper talks about. This on is on the main shaft of the engine in the front.1990 SN / Cincy, OH

Thanks jasper. The comments you posted earlier sounded like the water pump on my 90 SN exactly. when you get a new boat you just have to figure the new engine and components out and then it's a breeze. Figure I will get a short cut from someone who has a 2000 with the same set up. Here's to getting on the water in Cincy, OH it firkin snowing today and were under a winter storm warning.1990 SN / Cincy, OH

Lewey2001: I think the entire pump is simply bolted to the bracket on the bottom that holds the pump and the impeller shaft appears to bolt to the belt pully on the front of the engine. Looks like I will be able to remove the entire pump and then get to the screws for the cover. I'm going to call Zach tomorrow at N3 Boatworks or Bruce down at Nautiques in Orlando.1990 SN / Cincy, OH

I did mine yesterday, my 2000 SN with a GT40 has the pump on the right side of the engine, that said, remove the two mounting bolts, if you can remove hoses, mine wouldn't come out because of the hardness of the hoses, didn't want to crack or tear hoses, I rotated my pump a little, also the three smaller bolts can be removed thru the pulley with an extension, pulled the pump assembly with impeller out, my key way was loose, be careful not to loose, I cleaned all surfaces really well and installed a new o-ring with some vassoline to hold in place, I zip tied the new impeller to install in pump body, note the direction of rotation, it rotates clockwise, new gasket, some clear silicone, I also installed two of my bolts in the pump to hold the plate straight, don't forget some anti seize on the threads, line up the key way and slide in, tighten three bolts then put back in place and reinstall mounting bolts, good luck
