My keypad has gone bad. How difficult is it to replace yourself instead of taking it to a dealer?

what boat/year? if its like my SAN then its super easy. Remove steering wheel, undo the 5 screws that hold on the dash, keypad is held in by two nuts - remove those and the pad is easy to disconnect. my keypad went funny after the off season but after removing and drying it (in a box of rice over the heater) it started to come back to life. after a bit more drying and some uses it gradually came back to life.

The plug might be harder to put on than take off. It is indexed, of course. I can't remember if you push the tang or bend it back...use a mirror or camera and check first.

Can you please tell us some symptoms?
Also - If you put in a "new" keypad, you don't have to type a code (because there is no code) ...just hold down "start" and she should crank.
The master embedded code has to be programmed and you only get one chance.

I checked the connections on the Faria box and everything seems to be connected.
What toggle switch are you referring to?
Nothing on the keypad is working... it is not even lighting up when you press the buttons. All of the fuses that on the panel below seem to be just fine. I'm not sure what else could be an issue.

You might also check that there is not another main battery switch like a Perko.
Also, the kill lanyard prevents power to the dash gauges (but I don't think the keypad). Either way, you need to check that by at least popping off the lanyard and punching the button in and out a few times.
I don't believe it is the neutral safety switch or gear selector not in neutral as it only blocks the start feature...not the gauges IIRC.
That's the simple stuff and I'm thinking you are going to kick yourself when you find the toggle is "off".
