Nautique Cruise Control Problem on '09 210 SANTE

Boat has the Nautique Cruise Control with the wireless control in the steering wheel hub. It worked fine in December but last weekend I could not get it to turn on. The battery in the control is fresh. Still nothing. Next step is to check the connections of the module in the dash. I imagine I can access this from the panel under the dash.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Looks like I can replace the whole system for $279 from Nautiqueparts.com which would be less expensive than the haul to my closest mechanic.

In short, I replaced the unit and it works fine now. Unit comes as a set, receiver and transmitter.
Had to take out the four screws that held the instrument panel in place. Release two electrical connectors that held the receiver. Install the new receiver and transmitter and now we are good to go. I did check all the connections on the old one before spending the $279 on the new one. Guess the old one just got old.
Speed control is a luxury for experienced drivers but it is a necessity for unseasoned drivers trying to give you a decent pull. Maintaining speed looks easy but it isn't. We had Perfect Pass GPS on our '95 sport and it was just about my favorite option next to the tower. A close 3rd was the ACME propeller.
