    Restoring original color...

I have a 2000 Air Nautique. This is a two part question.

    1. I kept my boat docked in the river most of the summer. The starboard side picked up some tar(ish) residue as seen in picture. I was able to get most of the tar off but it still left over a residue. I've tried every product imaginable to get it off. It's not happening. Any advice?

    2. I've read a few posts on wet-sanding, but not sure if it's necessary or not. See picture 2. I'd really like to restore that original green. What's the most effective way to do so? Thanks. Click image for larger version

So when you say left docked I assume you mean left in the water based on the pictures. Looks like it built up slime or algae on the bottom and then you tried to pressure wash it off. If your going to leave it in the water it should have the bottom painted with anti folwing paint. If you don't its going to blister. Paint will make the boat less efficient and not run out as fast. Probably no different than a slimed up one. Wet sanding and polishing should clean it up if its not damaged too bad. Also if the green is vinyl tape you'll have to shine up by hand. A polisher will burn up tape. Good luck!

If you want to avoid wet sanding, I'd try Polly glow. I used on my 86 and it works great. It's a two part product. Cleaner and brightened. The cleaner will remove the tar. For more info and to purchase call 724 351 4583. Ask about Polly glow. I know someone will blast Polly glow because its a quick easy fix but that be what your looking for.
