engine oil capacity, owners manula not matching dipstick

    hi,

i done an oil change on my pcm 409 motor today. i drained over 6 litres. the owners manual says that the capacity should be 4.7 litres though when i put this in it is well low on the dipstick. just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and if i should trust the owners manula or my dipstick. i have heard it is really bad to overfill these engines so i wanted to get it rite

i have the pcm 343. it does the same thing. i do put an extra quart cause i was told on here that the measurement doesnt account for the filter. even with this it still reads low.

I believe there was an updated dipstick (different length) for the 409. Get the new dipstick and fill with oil until it registers properly on the dipstick.

thanks heaps for the info. i did some research and found the PCM press release from 2011 stating a recall on all 6L engine dipsticks as engines were blowing up from overfilled oil capacities. Apparantly you need the T style handle one rather than the ring.

        thanks again
