Shaft seal Question - 2002 210 Team Edition Excaliber

I seem to be getting a lot of water in my boat when it is in the water for a short time. I am thinking it is from the seal around the prop shaft. I had a ski brendella prior to this boat and there was a wax rope seal that I could tighten and it stopped this.

Is this the same type setup in my boat? And if so can it be acsessed easily from under the rear seat and V-Drive cover?

    Thanks for the help.

I am having the same issue and started to dive into it. It appears that the seal itself is almost sitting under the engine. so far, I just started to gain access to it, but looks like easier way may be from the port side cover.

Let me know if you already figure a lot of this out...and I'll post as I discover thing as well.

    Thanks,
    Ben

My 02 did this last week and I removed v drive cover and a couple of hoses and was able to get to it. It is tough though. Make sur you have a new safety wire and remember there is a locking nut that you need to break loose. I only turned mine in a half turn and that was enough. Don't over tighten.

when i have accessed mine it has been from port side. it seems like i disconnected the two ballast hoses to get them out of the way. the biggest challenge was finding a couple wrenches big enough to grab the thing, but not too big to get down there to it. i think i used a pipe wrench and one of those span wrenches that you typically use for sink drains. something like this wrench from ski dim would be extremely helpful. i'm sure that i'll be kicking myself for not having one already the next time i do it
