    engine temps

what should normal engine temps look like? New ski nautique owner here, I see 160's thru 205-210. Dealer said it checked out fine "in the tank" so they didnt think I should have to worry about the impeller. When should I worry? Not sure when last impeller was changed 350hrs currently...1999 GT-40, thanks

temp is 160 on my gt40. maybe a little less when running. never any higher. impeller is an easy change for piece of mind. also, carry a spare just in case. if it's ever been run dry it would be worth changing.

I only hit the 205 - 210 range if I am running WOT for a while. It will definitely run hotter than 170 at that point. The only other time I ran that hot was when I had an impeller problem and it got up there at idle. The impeller was starting to go and at idle it couldn't quite pull enough water in. If I goosed it up and got the boat moving it would be okay and cool down, but I couldn't idle for long. Changed the impeller out and the problem went away.

So i would agree with the others that if you are hitting 205 and it isn't because you are running flat out, then I would change the impeller.
