    Love handle removal

Has any one ever tried to remove the safe rails on the 2000 - 2001 San. They are those ugly chrome rails on the sides of the engine hatch. And if so what died you fill the holes with. Those things are trip wires at every level!

Haha I have never heard them referred to as love handles before. I have the same ones on my 99 and at first I was planning to take them off right away. After we taught a few noobies how to surf I realized it was really nice to have those rails to hold onto if you were sitting on the sunpad coaching and catching the rope so I left them for last season. If I did take them off I was planning to add a pair of pull up cleats and hopefully those would cover one of the 3 holes but not sure if that would work out or not. I wasn't sure if I would fiberglass and gelcoat the holes, seal them somehow or just leave them but either way I was thinking I would add some Hydro Turf or SeaDeck to cover the area and provide a non-slip way to get from the main lounge to the platform without walking over the sun pad every time. I still may do this at some point but they don't bother me as much as they did when I first got the boat.

Obviously, you could fill and match the gel...but that is either expensive or time consuming. Sometimes, I've just used a SS screw with a SS finishing washer to cover holes no longer needed. No one notices...just looks like another part of the boat. After not too much time, you won't notice them, either, lol.
