Stern trunk storage lid won't open

On my 2002 SN 196 the port-side lid will not open on the stern trunk storage. It's stuck closed. When i press the actuator release button I hear a click but the lid remains locked shut. Any ideas on how to open the lid?

I think you can reach up under the coming pad, under the gunnel on both sides of the boat, and there is a manual release cable, pull it, and the trunk should pop open.

Correct Craft changed that system on the 2003 boats.
