Check engine light on and off

I have a 2007 sante and today for the first time the check engine light would come on for a little bit and then go off. Temp was around 160 and oil pressure was good around 60. Any ideas on why the cause of it coming on?

I have a 2007 sante and the check engine light also comes on and off.
Mostly it's on at idle and goes away after it's underway (but not always)
No idea why, still haven't figured it out, but it seems to be running ok...
Please reply to this thread if you figure it out
      Thanks

Ours seems like it only comes on when your pulling a wakeboarder. When you just go out to cruise or wakesurf the light stays off.

Is it a check engine light or oil warning light? If the latter check your oil. Otherwise it is the computer letting you know there is an intermittent problem, the computer will ignore the problem, warn you and keep on going. It stores the fault code that will let you know what the problem is but you will need a code reader to get it.

Its the big red light between the MPH gauge and RPM gauge that says check engine.

It's likely either a over temp light or an oil pressure warning light. You can check your manual if you have it, or you can find a copy here. Do your gauges show low oil pressure or high tempature when the light is on? If I were to guess it seems like a temp issue, more load on the boat while pulling will heat it up, and less water flow to cool the engine at idle, when was the last time you changed your impeller? Could just be a loose connection too.

The temp stays around 160 never reaches the 175 mark and the oil pressure stays around 60 to 70. It won't stay on the whole time while pulling a wakeboarder. It won't come on until reaching set speed of 23 then will go off, then may come on in a turn. It's more or less just aggravating to us because we would hate to have to pull it out mid season if its a minor fix. And the impeller was change last September when we bought the boat.

Took the boat out again past weekend and have narrowed it down. The light only comes on while pulling a wakeboarder with full ballast. Any other time light never comes one. We checked the transmission fluid and it was full. Oil was fine as well. Mind blown

Check engine light on and off

Could be a faulty oil switch. This is separate from the oil sender that controls the gauges. Pretty cheap part - not too bad to get at most of the time. You could test this by disconnecting the wire from the switch and see what happens. Unless it touches ground, it won't come on from that wire.
Also check your digital oil pressure gauge and make sure it isn't dropping at the same time as the light. The analog gauge drops slower. This drop would be accompanied by an audible alarm though. If you hear nothing and only see the light, it's likely the switch IMO.
The way I understand it, the switch is a direct wire to the light. No computer or ECM is involved with that. The gauge wire is a different story.
