PCM Issues New Service Bulletin - Low Pressure Fuel Pump

Do you know if CC has reported the failure rate of these fuel pumps? My 2005 Ski196 was shipped January '05, so I probably have one of these early build pumps. I am at 5 hours without a problem so far, but I will keep a tow line handy!

I doubt that CC has any data on the numbers themselves, but PCM might. All Correct Craft dealers are PCM certified, and deal directly with PCM on things like this.

I read the bulletin but it suggests that the pump should be replaced if one encounters problems during start-up, dealer prep or fre hours of operation. What happens if one has this early dated fuel pump but did not experience problems during these stages? Can the pump fail in the long term (because of this issue)? Should it be replaced now instead of waiting for it to fail?

I believe PCM is in the process of notifying owners by mail. I'd wait to hear from them as to what to do. I suppose you could call them and ask.

Feedback from PCM on 2005 Low Pressure fuel pump faliures

FYI - I sent an e-mail to PCM yesterday afternoon asking about their early-build 2005 engine Low Pressure fuel pump faliures. My specific question was "Since my 2005 Ski 196 has 5.0 hours on it without a failure, what are my chances of the fuel pump failing? Shoud I bring it to the dealer for swap-out as a preventive measure?"

This was the quick response I received from PCM this morning;
Hello Dave,
Most pumps have failed during water test or during dealer prep. I would
say your chances of a failure now are very low. Hope you enjoy your new
boat and if you need anything further, please let me know.
