Know anything about these marine starters?

I ordered this starter last week and it came in today. It said it was a marine starter. Does anyone know anything about these?

As far as I know, all of these small diameter gear reduction starters are completely sealed so they are marine starters by design. When I was pricing a Ford starter for my old MB a few years ago I noticed the vendor I was using had the same picture for the marine starter as the Ford Mustang starter but the price for the marine version was about 2x the price. So I called them and asked what the difference was between the starters. To my surprise he said they pull them off the same shelf and just charge more for the ones advertised as marine starters! The Mustang starters on the Rareelectrical site are only $5 cheaper but I bet they are the same part.

All of these look identical to the one I did install in place of the large diameter starter on my 5.8L Ford in the old MB, it worked great. I believe mine came from db electrical and was just like this one, $52 shipped: http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Torque-...item1e6b53bfce They advertise the same starter for a marine application for $90

Thanks for the input Mikeski. I was really not wanting to shell out 2x the price for one of these. I had read some pretty bad stories about boats going BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM when using an automotive starter (and I don't believe this to be automotive) and just wanted to reach out to the community and see if anyone else had used one of these. I just wanted to make sure that I was thinking the right way. I went to nautiqueparts.com and looked at the starter they had, and it looked identical to this starter. However, the starter they use is manufactured by api. The one that I purchased on ebay was manufactured by world power systems. Their website (WPS) says it is marine, but there is not any information to confirm that it is marine certified. I would guess that if they (the ebay seller) and many others who sell this starter, can sell it as a marine starter that it most likely is sealed. Thoughts?

              Found this on another forum:

Thanks guys I appreciate the information. I called Db electrical and they said all permanent magnet are sealed anyways and are fine for Marine use.
