    Prop Question

    I have a 2004 SV211 TE. This is what is on it for a prop at present;

    We will be boating mostly in Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho or Montana. Average elevation anywhere from 1200ft to 2800 ft. ( Mostly be in that 2300 ft mark around here). We will be, probably, 90% wakeboarding and 10% surfing. Will this prop be sufficient or should a guy be looking at an Acme 1234? Or something different?
    Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Looks like a #644 13.25 diameter x 16.000 pitch 0.105 cup 4 1 1/8" RH. I had the same prop on my old 211 except Nautique had changed to LH and so my prop was #645 (even last numbers for RH props from ACME). This (I believe) was the Team prop designed for all around use and offered higher speed cruising for skiing -- pitch of 16" thrust for each revolution of the shaft. Less pitch yields increased hole shot for getting big loads of ballast or crew on plane.

    According to wakeprops.com, you might want less pitch like from the #1464 -- but this depends on the amount of ballast you run -- if you are WB with stock ballst, you might be OK as is; are you having any issues getting on plane?

    The Acme site is good for providing an understanding of prop design attributes.

    Be aware of the current amount of clearance you have, so you know if you increase the prop diameter, your clearance will decrease. (Might not be room for the 1234.)

      Great info, thanks!
      I just put it in the water for the first time on Friday, just to make sure everything was working properly. We're going to put it in again this weekend ( if the weather cooperates) and I'll fill the tanks. I've got 3 fly high sacks arriving tomorrow, I'll try it with the factory tanks full and see how it comes up on plane then fill the extra sacks for the surfing and see how it comes onto plane. I noticed that at WOT it was up around 5000 rpm, backed it off right away and cruised at 3500-3800 rpm. 5000 seems a little high to me, no?

          I have had 6 or 7 different props on my 211 and I am back to using the 644 behind my 330EX. For my needs it offers the best combination of power and speed. Of course I barefoot and waterski. I have made several posts about each of the props over the years so hit that search button and you will find lots of answers.

          90% boarding and 10% surfing, yes the 1234 is the best prop for your needs and it will fit fine on your 211.

            Thanks Mikeski, I searched, but I wasn't sure how much of a role that my altitudes would play in prop selection.
            I'll maybe get in touch with Acme and see if I would have to worry about gel burn with the 1234. ( all this stuff I'm learning, not just a matter of throwing any old prop on as long as it fits under there)
            Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate the help.

              No prop burn with a 1234 on the 211, there is more space than the 210's that have this issue.

                So, I emailed the folks at Delta props and gave them my information. They have suggested that I go with an Acme 1578. Has anybody had any experience with this prop, and if you did what are your thoughts?
                Thanks

                  It's a good prop, and except for the right hand it's the same as the 1579 on my 210 (1579 came with the "Team Edition" package -- remember even last number on the ACME model = RH prop).

                  I have not taken the opportunity to switch props yet -- primarily because for WB I am using factory ballast, so I think the factory Team prop is just fine; and when I "sac out" for surfing it does fine, so it is meeting my needs (or so I think). I understand that if I were to switch to the 1235 it would improve everything, but I just haven't had the time or energy to make any changes.
