Any difference between the PCM part #R130014 starter relay solenoid and the many subs

Can anyone tell me why these starter relays (solenoid next to the red reset button on Ford engines) are so all over the place as far as cost? The PCM part number is R130014, and if you it up using that number, you'll likely find a price of $75 or so. I have researched these things online, and I have found them ranging from $8 to $80! They all look the same (2 large threaded studs, and 2 small threaded studs), and the bracket that attaches the part to the boat has 2 slotted holes. The only markings I have seen on the ones at auto parts stores is 12V, so I'm wondering if there is any amperage or safety issues with one over the other? I bought one from Car Quest for $24 (even though they had one for $12 as well), and installed it today. I reattached the battery cables, and she fired right up. I'm still worried there may be a difference in these things, even though they look the same. The Car Quest part number is 25-1522.

Make sure it is ignition protected and its probably ok. If not its quite dangerous and should be changed out.

An ignition protected unit will be sealed so that it won't emit a spark but it may look almost identical to one that is not ignition protected so it can be tough to tell. It usually states it is ignition protected in the product description or on the box if it is. At this point your best might be to call Car Quest and check with them as they should have that info when they look up the part #.

It is absolutely crucial that it be ignition protected... Just like some ballast pumps... That's why they are expensive.... You could potentially have an explosion..

i ordered two Prestolite part # SAZ4201GK solenoids to replace a failing one on my PCM 351 and they are the 2 large, 2 small threaded stud models. my PCM solenoid only had 2 large, 1 small studs so i had to ground the second stud to get it working, but it works like a champ now. they are sealed units and i got TWO of them for $15 with free shipping here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-12-VOLT-SO...363191?vxp=mtr

solid deal and you get a backup, considering the price others charge. you might want to take a dremel to the mounting bracket to make it fit your application, but no problems other than that.
