    2008 210 heater install

30% off...did you see the new link...pn rocks! thanks.

    i almost can't resist. questions:

one, i was in my friends mastercraft and his heat at idle was bad...what do you think of this? http://www.heatercraft.com/low-idle-...5-hb-x-5-8-hb/ anyone tried it? any difference.

two, i understand from reading threads that most people put in two vents..seems fine, thoughts? I am not at all scared of cutting straight up, but don't see the point.

three, how hard is it to mount the unit itself? have to reach kind of up and back right?

how hard is it to figure out where to connect on engine? obviously if i get the y that goes to water pump then one less connection to figure out.

nautique parts shows theirs with 1 euro vent and 1 hot tube. this pic shows (thanks prairiedawg) shows 2 hot tubes. no reason not to get 2 hot tubes is there?

    thanks

Well first thing's first . . . thats my boat pictured lol.

Heat at idle is bad/non-existant. I don't know if that fitting will fix it or not.

I would never use the defrost vent so I have the two that you can see there, Both get used pretty often actually. My buddies bu only has one tube and that deff. isn't enough.

The install doesn't look difficult, I would try and get the unit in via the bow access but someone with more experience should chime in.

If you can find the original thread that my picture is from I also posted pictures of the attachment points for a 343.

    Hope that helps.

I did a complete install this winter in my 2012 210. it went smooth . it is a must have in pgh pa. with help from clibka and his pics to verify hose attachment points and vent placement made it easy. pm me with questions.

the kit from pn parts comes with 25 feet hose.
the kit from heater craft comes with 50 hose- you need almost all of it.
put shut offs inline (ball valves) to take heater out equation if you have any problems
I did not put defrost vent in and don't miss it.

the Y pipe will work "ok" the get heat at idle. the 12v heater circ pump works friggin awesome. I've had both. just installed a second heater and the circ pump and my heat at iidle is great.

I also put a circ pump in and it is awesome! Even have heat for several minutes while the motor is off!

Thanks for all above info... I also spoke just now to dan at heatercraft...he said skip the y and get the recirc pump. he suggests putting it as close to water pump as possible and on return line. He said this is contrary to instructions put works better. I can't imagine it makes a big difference as it is just making a circle no matter if you put on supply or return.

Where did you guys put your recirc pump? And how did you wire it?

How much is the recirc pump and do you put it on a separate switch?

It's about $100 from heatercraft. My heater is wired "all on" so it's on high or it's off. I've got a relay set up using the orange wire from the heater (the "high" fan wire) as a trigger, which in turn powers the pump. So in my case the pump comes on when I flip my heater switch to "on."

I mounted mine on the inside black panel that is right next to the engine divider panel. I used a 2.9gpm FloJet pump i got from amazon for like $50. I also used 3 relays so the pump will run on all 3 fan settings. Not sure if I needed 3 relays or not but they only cost $5 each. Put all this under the dash and ran a separate fused power and ground wire back to the pump. Works like a charm!

                      Is the flojet ignition protected?

Not not really sure but I'm also not thinking that it matters much the way it gets used.

Oh maybe I misread. I thought you said it was in the engine compartment.

It is in the engine compartment. What I meant is it's never the first thing turned on when starting the boat after it has been sitting. I suppose if you were worried about it it could be mounted under the helm beside the heater core.

Sorry to dig up an old thread..

Nordicron, did you have the Y installed and then add the pump as well? I am in the middle of installing a 340 and am curious if perhaps I should ditch the Y if I choose to use a pump.
