    Perko Flush Pro

I was wondering if anybody on here uses the Perko flush pro. I've been doing some research, and it looks like some of the older models were a little suspect with their quality control, but the reviews that I've been reading lately seem to be pretty positive. I've seen a lot of the homemade deals that guys have been building, and they seem quite functional, but I'm curious about just the flush pro. I'm trying to decide which route to go, homemade and pull on and off as I need it, or perko, stays in, no muss no fuss.
    Thanks in advance.

love mine. if you are even remotely considering the through hull order the kit because the through hull is 3x more separately.

I haven't seen the through hull kit. What all does that entail?

it just has the hose fitting that you can put on the hull so you just need to screw your garden hose to the back of the boat. makes running on the hose super easy.

I have the one without the through hull, it works great and I just couldn't bring myself to mount that ugly thing on the side of my boat to save myself from having to open up the motor access and drag the hose in. If I was on salt and had to use it daily I would probably do it though.

ID:	366470Just make your own. Easily done with parts from hardware store. Here's what I did. I used a brass connection and added a brass cap with gasket. Also, notice the water shut off? To connect the hose I had to make a female to female adapter. Don't think I spent more than 10-15 bucks.

How about a guy does me a solid and gives me the list of part# for the make my own? I have thought about it, but knowing what a dummy I am would probably require 3 trips to the store. Can you get it all from one store? Please put items in your cart and provide print out.

I got everything from lowes. Go to the garden section where hose connections and adapters are. You should be able to find the connection and cap there. Also in that section are the hose clamps needed. For the pvc fitting between the hoses go over to the pvc adapter section. For the female to female go over to the PVC pipe and fittings section. Your are going to have to get two female garden hose connectors and get a male to male to combine them.

The hose used to feed the water strainer is 1".

you sure about that? I'm pretty sure the modern GM pcm powerplants are 1 1/4". 1" is ford (which you may have on a GT40 boat).

I was told that it was 1" going into the strainer and 1 1/4" coming out of the strainer. I was going to go and measure if its not raining after work.

                          A dissenting opinion.
Parts left off a boat cost nothing, and create no service problems.

There have been cases of the plastic housing of a flush pro breaking. If your boat does not have a shut off valve directly attached to the through hull water intake, I would not add anything to the hoses that take water to the raw water pump.

The 1 inch, or 1 1/4 hose will flow more water than your bilge pump can move out of the boat.

Mine is a 2012 210 with the EX343 (Catanium) and I used the Perko 0456DP7 1-1/4" Marine Flush Pro Valve. But if your making one you could decide where its going to be and cut an inch or so section of hose and bring it with you since you need to make some room anyway. In order to install the Perko on mine I had to take about a 4 inch section of hose out. Worst case scenario you can't figure it out buy a coupler and 2 hose clamps and put it back together while you are waiting for your Perko to come in. I could have done it that way but I liked the idea of having the clear adapter so I can quickly check that I do have water flow if I ever question the raw water pump.

This is correct. The two hoses are NOT the same...which always made me wonder which strainer they used. I feel the one threaded connection is wrong but I've never pulled it out to check. I think it is 1" hose x 1" NPT on each side and the 1 1/4" is a loose fit...but I'm not sure of that. Wasco does make a 1 1/4" hose by 1"NPT IIRC.
