    Tight steering

Hi, I have a 92 Ski Nautique and when its under load the steering is very tight. This is my first boat so I was wondering if this is normal or is there a fitting I may need to replace in the steering? Or is there a grease fitting for my rudder that may help, I looked and didnt see one. Hopefully this is just normal, as the boat run awesome, just makeing sure!

Could you elaborate on "tight" under load? Is is difficult to turn, or is there a hard pull to one direction? A pull would be normal, where difficulty in turning is not. Being that your boat is a '92, it would not come as a surprise if you're due a new steering cable.

When im towing tubers it feels like its a lil difficult to turn the wheel, tight. How would I check the steering cable?

I wish that was a common problem on the lakes around here when people are pulling tubers near me...

I would probably disconnect the cable at each end so you can isolate all 3 components and see where its binding. Theres a good chance if you don't know when or if your cables was replaced that it hasn't been and its probably due. It could be the helm or the rudder, but those are less likely. 1991-92 use a Morse rotary 19-1/2' cable and if you have trouble finding it you can get it through White Lake (Nautiqueparts.com) and they have a discount code in the sponsor sticky, have had nothing but positive experiences dealing with them. There are also some really good images of the cable ends on their site. If its the helm and lubing it up doesn't fix it, you can get those as well. I seem to recall those didn't require as much disassembly as the current boats because the cables aren't tied to everything they could find on the way but it could still involve some swearing and hanging upside down to get it done.
