GT40 starts & runs for 2 seconds, then quits

My 1997 GT40 will start and run for 2 seconds, then quit. It is not popping the circuit breakers and will immediately start and run again for 2 seconds. I've searched and found others with a similar problem but I've been unable to solve my issue. Of course, it ran fine when put away last winter. Here's what I've done so far.
    • Checked the 50 amp fuse for the "keep alive wire" at the positive battery post. It's clean and current will pass thru it.
    • Ran a pair of jumper wires directly from the battery to each fuel pump and they both operate. The low pressure pump only requires the hot lead to operate. At first that didn't seem right but after thinking about it, the ground wire is still attached to the pump and, accordingly, another ground directly from the battery is not required. (the current low pressure pump was replaced 4 years ago and wired directly into the harness with butt connectors).
    • Swapped out both relays. No change.
    • Tested #30 pin in both relay connectors and they are both hot. Pin #87 is grounded. A test lamp between 30/87 will light without the key being turned on.

When I turn the key to position one, the pumps no longer run for 2 seconds like they previously did.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Duh.... Never mind. After more searching and reading I came across a post saying a disconnected kill switch will shut down the engine after 2 seconds. I went out and looked and sure enough, the kill switch is off.

Almost everybody with a GT-40 learns this, one way or another.

New to the Forum.. I realize this topic has been covered but would like to confirm the fix for the "runs for a few seconds then quits" problem. My 1997 Super Sport with GT40 did the same.. I did not realize that the engine would even fire up and run for a few seconds before quitting when the Emergency Stop Switch was pulled.. it apparently does.
In my case the red kill switch and cord were still in place but one of the purple wires behind the console had pulled loose and was dangling.. ran fine after reconnecting it.
I notice many posts saying they started looking at fuel pump relays, ECA relay etc.. One more reminder... look for the simplest, most obvious problem 1st and you might save yourself a lot of time getting your boat running again. Good luck!
