    2012 210 problems

i have less than 10 tens on my boat and took a day off Friday spend with the kids at a lake.

two hours in (with a full tank of gas) I noticed the fuel showing 90% then 0% back and forth maybe ten times then finally resting at the 0% with boat still running. thought maybe something with the gauge and pressed stop on keypad and was going to start all over and see if it resets itself.

    pressed start and nothing
turned batteries to off then back on , entered code, pressed start, link comes on, system booting, then the screen, pressed start again, nothing.
I have noticed that all the gauges say nothing.

got towed by nautique dealer that I did not buy the boat from and tech came down to look at it. he removed engine shrouds to get at fuse box and removed 40 amp and 20 amp fuses and all the others to check them. all good.

put them back in , batteries on, entered code, pressed start , link comes , system booting then the screen, pressed start again and all gauges came on with correct reading for fuel and started fine.

he said it was fine, he just reset the ecm and it will be good.

ran boat for 20 min, went to lunch , came back, no restart, same thing, gauges never jump to show anything. I removed fuses to reset system and nothing. it did not work this time.

also in small fuse box under the engine shrouds (343) are a couple relays, one for starter relay and the other for fuel relay. I switched those and it fired right up . did not have another problem for the rest of the day.

also no codes at any time on the link.

dealer was closed when I left, i still had three hour drive home with my boat.

i am gonna have to fix this myself, i just need pointed in the right direction.

    thanks for any help

I have tried to duplicate the problem in my driveway by removing the relays one by one to see if they affect the gauges, and they do not. it just throws a code. a bad relay may not act the same as one missing.

when it does not start, both green lights do come up next to the start button and you can here the fuel pump come on for a few seconds, but the fuel gauge -oil pressure -temp all say zero.

when those gauges jump up to a position, the boat starts everytime

"pressed start again and all gauges came on with correct reading for fuel and started fine",,. i agree it takes a 2nd start button press to start and to activate gauges....i am not a mechanic. but could it simply be a bad starter relay...is there one? it just seems that your keypad is fine because it recognizes the start button press the first time. i dont' think it is anything that to do with gauges they just don't get activated until boat is "on". another dumb idea...could it possible be a bad lanyard stop switch?

I was just looking...there is a starter relay also an ignition relay....does it only happen when engine has already run. wish i was smart enough but i am not to know but it seems when not starting with a test light you should be able to pull relays and see where power stops...

engine cold? on my wifes car when crank shaft position sensor goes out car won't restart until cools down somewhat.

Same problem in my 2012. Buxton found the problem. Under engine shroud there is a fuse panel and one if the wires wasn't crimped on the connector for the fuse. Remove the cover and remove fuse panel and pull on wires and see if you have a loose one

ok took the fuse panel off and moved all the wires around , I can not duplicate the problem, but if you remove the fuse the fuel gauge goes to zero and you have no start. same as what happened.

I removed the wires from the panel and checked the wire connections. they both looked good , but recrimped them anyway with the proper tool.

maybe my problem is were these wires go to.

seems odd that both times this happened, the problem was corrected by fooling with this panel and pulling and removing some fuses.

Yes identical issue. My gauge was zero and wouldn't start. But mine clicked and didn't turn over . Does yours turn over?

no , nothing. no clicks or sounds. like you are not pressing the start button but you are. and the keypad works because you can enter the code and the start button works because the blue lights come on when you press it.

something has to be loose. it first happened pulling a rider threw some heavy chop and the gauge was going up and down. I thought to myself that the fuel could not possibly be sloshing that much in the tank to show those

kinds of readings. the motor did not shut off. I turned it off and was going reboot the link to see if the fuel gauge would come back, but could not restart the engine.

Why can't you take it to your local dealer? The warranty is with Nautique not your dealer.

Nice truck BTW, how do you like it?

I had this exact same thing happen to me today on my 2012 210. I've never had this problem before, and I have about 100 hrs on the boat. I just got the boat back from the dealer yesterday for 100 hr service and NSS install. First time out with the boat after getting it back and this is exactly what happened. I'll check the items you mentioned, but I wanted to see if anyone on here has other ideas also - considering the dealership would have been doing some electrical work to install the NSS.

how did you get boat restarted? did you have to be towed? I have not taken the boat out since this happened but ran it in the driveway for about 30 min with me in the back. I wiggle tested every wire on the motor while I watched the link screen to see if it had an affect on the gauges. nothing. I could not duplicate the problem. I then went under the helm and did the same thing with no luck.

could the ecm get hot and have a problem?

I love the truck, it replaced my 2011 f-450 king ranch that had a glowplug break off and destroy the motor at 41000 miles. motor replacement was six weeks at dealer, I had to replace the truck due to the amount of down time.

After about 20 minutes it started up. I just kept jiggling the wires under the dash and around the starter, and eventually it fired.

Your heat theory is interesting - it was 107 degrees here yesterday. I hope that's not the problem. I'd prefer a loose wire.

electrical problems, suck, they are hard to diagnose, and if fixed you wonder if that was really the fix, Had problem with mine last weekend, engine cut off twice, while pulling, then lost speed reading and time display , without mph reading, NNS and ZO does not work, along with a lot of other functions the Gps, puck was replaced solved the problem, this time simple solution that could have been a night mare to diagnose hats off to David, at White Lake!!!!!!
