Picked up a 2002 196 from a waterski club last week and it came with a jerry can fuelling system. I now want to convert it back to the normal gas tank and I'm trying to figure out how to connect the two fuel hoses properly. I.e. which connection is designated for the withdraw hose and which one goes to the return line? Was hoping someone with a bit more experience could chime in. Please see the photo attached!

Don't rely on this until I can confirm, but as I recall the red fitting is where you screw in the anti siphon valve and then press on the fuel line that leads to the low pressure fuel pump.

Pulled apart the trunk in my 2002 196 Ltd with GT40.
The Driver's or Starboard side fitting is for the vent hose. Vent hose is a bit larger diameter than the fuel lines. The vent hose sweeps up and runs under the lip of the trunk (bow side) and attaches to a vent thru-hull opening on the port side. The vent is located just above the port side fuel fill hose.
The black marked fitting closest to the electric harness has an anti-siphon valve screwed into it. A fuel line with red electrical tape clamps onto the barbed fitting of the anti-siphon valve. This line runs down the recessed area of the fuel tank and enters the area beneath the floor. The line continues along the port side of the bilge just below the port side engine mount structure. This fuel line has red tape on the end attached to the Low Pressure Fuel Pump.
The fuel line that is unmarked by tape attaches and clamped to a barb fitting. The barb fitting is screwed into the Red tank fitting. This hose runs adjacent to the other fuel hose in the recessed area of the tank and beneath the floor into the bilge. The engine end of this hose is unmarked and connects to the Fuel Control Cell FCC. It clamps on the fitting nearest the stern.
It does not make sense to me that the red marked hose does not attach to the red fuel tank fitting but that is the way it is on my boat. I'll add that I did not remove the flooring and physically trace the 2 fuel lines running from the stern to the engine compartment. I relied that the red tape was on both ends of the same fuel hose.
