How to change fuel filter in 98 Sport Nautique with PCM GT-40 engine?

    A couple of questions:
    - Which direction am I to unscrew the PCM FCC? Is it traditional counterclockwise? I can get it to turn about 1/8 of the way either direction, but then it's VERY tight. Before I put more pressure on it, I want to be sure to be unscrewing it the correct direction (and not over tightening it by mistake).
    - The directions on the side of the PCM FCC talk about draining water into a container. See the attached photo. The one other time I changed the filter, I unscrewed the PCM FCC being careful not to spill the gas inside and put on a new filter. I didn't do anything with draining water and have no idea where that water is since it's gas inside the PCM FCC.

    I'd greatly appreciate your feedback.

    Many thanks,
    Jim

A tip I was given was lay under neath it looking up at it from the bottom and follow the righty tighty lefty loosey. I believe that makes it a clockwise turn from the top. All i've ever done was remove the small valve at the very bottom to drain out any excess fuel in the canister itself and then remove the canister. make sure you put the valve back on the canister before putting it back on the mount. Hope this helped

It's a gas filter and water separator in one. Use two strap wrenches, dump the old fuel, clean the canister, put new filter on, grease the gasket, and replace.
