    PCM V Drive Question

I was checking my fluids in my boat before i took into the shop for the summer, and realized my v drive fluid was "milkshake" I must have had some water spilling into the v drive vent when i didnt have my bilge on i guess. It was stored in a shop over winter, and it got cold this winter but nothing to crazy. I guess my question is it pretty much ruined? do i have it rebuilt or buy a new one from skidim? any feedback is helpful

So you have no symptoms other than the milkshake that there is permanent damage? And you want to rebuild or get a new one? If it was me I would change out the fluid and run it til I had some symptoms of a problem. Maybe it is fine.

Change the fluid, three or four times, until the fluid on the dipstick looks exactly like new fluid. A V-drive is basically two gears, and five bearings. If no, or only very minimal rust in is a few places, you should be fine.

Check the oil after the changes, EVERY time you take it out, until you are seeing no changes in the fluid color. Changing the oil is a hassle, but it is much more of a problem to replace a V-drive.

ok, i will do that. should i just put around the boat launch for like 15 to 20 minutes and then put it on the trailer again and check? Do you think I will damage anything else like the tranny? I also checked the tranny fluid this morning and no milk shake color or anything. I'm hoping this flush is the answer because the other route is going to be spendy.
