G23 Stereo Issue

Hey guys. I have a 2013 G23 which has had a problem with the stereo right from hour zero. Whenever you start the boat and the stereo is on you get a loud static snap sound which is pretty unpleasant it also snaps intermittently during running. Sometimes if the volume is loud the snap will cause the stereo to go off completely and then it needs resetting. I have been living with the problem for the time being but yesterday it went completely and now all audio is just interference and noise. It's the full Nautique setup, no add ons, haven't touched any settings. I am not a big stereo guy so any input would be much appreciated!

no issue here, I am no stereo guru but learn and played with the different stereos over the years, just get the manuals out and climb in the clam shell and start looking around, unhooking speakers etc, what you are trying to-do is isolate the problem, depending how far you are away from your dealer, you might get a car stereo guy to check out if you do not find any thing your self, I bet a stereo installer, can fine the problem in minutes,

1. There is a 100% recall on G23/25s where all the RCAs are grounded out on the metal plate inside the driver's dash storage area.

Short term fix: remove that plate and remove all the RCAs from the plate and tape all those RCAs off with electrical tape and just lay them loose inside that small storage area. takes 3-5 mins to do that your self and likely you'll be in business the rest of the weekend.

Long term: dealer install insulated bushings around the RCAs so they can go back thru that metal plate without grounding out.

YOUR DEALER SHOULD HAVE FIXED THIS FOR YOU prior to delivery. when did you get your boat? Late April this recall was issued.



2. My boat had an additional problem in addition to #1. My AUX RCAs.... which run from the back of the HU over to the drivers dash were pinched or grounded out somewhere along that run. I disconnected the AUX in RCAs at the back of the HU and the popping/cracking and problems whenever NSS was used immediately went away. that will get fixed under warranty in the fall. in the meantime I added an addition set of RCAs in the cubby with my bluetooth puck, so I am good to go till fall.

Thanks for that Ryan, I am pretty sure that is the problem as the delivery time worked out around then. I will have a go at doing that fix this afternoon and see how it goes. Dealer is a little way from us so might be a winter job....
