    Won't go above idle

My through the hull hose disconnected causing some flooding to my boat. The problem I am having now is that the boat starts right up runs great but will not throttle up at all. Already replaced the potentiometer and that did not fix it. My dealer is stumped and thinks it could be the main computer, $1100 part (ouch!) is there any other possibilities. The boat is a 06 sv211 with 150 hours.

    Thanks

I thought the "main computer" was associated with the boat and not the engine. I know they communicate. But the engine doesn't even need a boat to run. can he disconnect it and get the engine running on its own? ...The engine relies on the ECM.

I'm going on concepts here...not details.

He may have been referring to the ECM. The mechanic seemed stumped. He is going to check to see if any codes hit the computer. Not sure how much I trust the place I brought the boat but they are the only Nautique dealer in my area.

It could also be the servo motor that moves the throttle. Your 06 should be throttle by wire. Is it?

You also need to make sure your perfect pass isn't "on" in RPM mode set at something low.

I've used my PP to speed up my engine some to warm it...i.e. set it at 1000 in rpm mode and it holds steady...and also LIMITs.

So go make sure the PP is off and if in doubt, maybe disconnect it.

Yes it TBW. Mover the potentiometer by hand an it still did not throttle up. Never thought about the PP, will make sure it is off

The "potentiometer" is only an input to the computer. The throttle body has to be moved by the positioner/actuator.

But something has to tell it to....which is the brains.

My first thought it is that it is very simple.

So I finally got a call from the marina an the 211 is running great. They had to call PCM directly to figure it out. PCM told time to disconnect some wire and leave disconnected and it will run fine. I will find out what it was tomorrow and let everyone know.
AirTool thanks so much for your input!

I took a picture of the wire they disconnected. My dealer could not tell me what it did and neither could PCM. They just know that if you have the issue I did just disconnect it and it will work fine. I could not find the port it went into. I took the boys wake boarding and had no issues. The check engine light went on but after I turned the motor off and on it went out and so far has stayed off. Hope this can help someone else

                        That doesn't sound comforting.

No I was not thrilled with the response. But I have my boat and it seems to run fine. Although I really want to know what that wire was for.

I'm out of the country but might study it when I get back...I have the same year model.

My boat had exactly the same issue & also is a sv211 - 2006 model. This was 3 years ago & never new how they repaired it
So would be interested to know what that particular wire did.
                              Cheers mark
