    Auxillary Keypad

    Hi,

I have seen lots of posts recently regarding issues with the starboard auxillary keypad in the older san's. I have an 01 San 210 and my keypad went bad which I replaced at the time and threw the faulty one away. I really should have kept it to try and see if I could repair it. I work with electronics and think that if I stripped one down I would be able to repair it. The only problem I think would be re sealing it so it is water tight.
As I no longer have my faulty one I was wondering if anyone who had replaced their pads but still had their originals would like to send me one to see what I could do. I would obviously cover any costs incurred. I figure that if I can repair them then I could help other members out as these new keypads are not cheap.

Let me know if any one is interested.

    Thanks

Well, if you like to tinker, how about a replacement for both of the bloody keypads? Couldn't be too hard. I've got a replacement port keypad on order, and plan on installing an "old school" ignition switch for a backup, so I'll have an extra "semi-failed" port keypad.

What sort of difficulties would I have with customs sending it to you?

Il be honest, while I was waiting for my new auxillary keypad to be delivered I made a rough switch pad to replace my faulty one. It was rough and only took a couple of hours to make and fit. I only put the switches I desperately needed on there so bilge, ballast, nav lights etc. I have some pictures somewhere which I will find out and post them to show you. Basically I downloaded the wiring diagram off this site for my year boat, and piggy backed onto the original wiring. Wired it through a small fuse box and some relays. Easy enough to do. Because I piggy backed it to the original wiring, as soon as my new keypad came I plugged it straight in and worked like it should. Will try and sort some pictures.

If you send me your faulty one, there should be no issues with customs your end just mine where I nay have to pay a small fee. I will pm you.

      Thanks

if you send a 'gift' to someone in the uk with a value of under £35 you shouldn't incur any customs charges. fedex and ups may charge a small fee for clearing/handling customs of around £10 as far as I can remember.

I have shared this with Airnautique2000 but thought I would share with everyone else. Here's some photos of what I did with the auxillary switches while I waited for my new keypad to arrive. It's a bit rough but only took me a couple of hours to do and was a temporary measure.

This is the backup switch pad

This is a small fuse box and power distribution. The relays are behind the kick panel.

Simply piggy backed onto the original wiring so when my new pad arrived it still worked when I plugged it in.
