    383 420hp 430ftlbs stroker marine engine

thinking of repowering my 2004 pcm 330 with a 383 420HP 430FTLBS STROKER does anyone know if I would need to reprogram the computer?

PCM has their firmware locked down- so unless one of their engineers pops their head in here to tell you what the 330 fuel curves look like, no one is going to be able to tell you for sure. Of course, they'd need to know a good bit more about your proposed longblock than the info you've supplied thus far.

My gut says that a >1hp/ci stroker will have greater fuel needs than the stock system can supply- let alone is programmed for. But, thats just a guess. If youre **** bent on keeping the EFI set up, you'll need to talk to someone capable of writing a custom marine tune for you. My guess is that will make the cost of the longblock look cheap by comparison!

thanks for the input I guess I should just stick with the stock setup I was wanting to try a bigger prop/ top end and have the extra torque to still pull a full crew

        • Current 2005 SV 211, due for upgrade! GS22 or GS24 perhaps? Previous

I did quite a bit of research on upgrading the 330EX powerplant in my SV211. You will absolutely need to reprogram the ECM to fuel a 420HP stroker motor. If you are going that route why not go with a DART 409 block and get 450lbs + of torque? I can't find the thread but after my research I spec'd out a motor with Larry's Engine and Marine using the stronger DART block. Ultimately I decided to buy a second ski boat instead since the prices were in the same league, about $8k all in. Since then I have also upgraded my second boat...

I have had 8+ props on my boat and have gone back to the stock Team prop. I also have high flow Revolution Marine manifolds on my boat that did wake up the midrange torque a bit. Also dropped about 100lbs off the back of the boat helping my slalom wake. These run about $800 and the stock ECM is fine with them. I figure my boat probably puts out about 350HP with these manifolds, but who really knows?
