Boat Cleaning - Exterior Gel Coat Cleaning Products Help

Guys -

I am in need of some help. I am searched the sites for some answers but have not been able to find what i am looking for. I am looking for some products that I use to clean the outside gelcoat of the boat with after a weekend of use. The boats sits on a lift, with a canopy, so it is out of the water when not in use. What happens, though, is that there are waterspots on the outide gelcoat that get dried on the boat as well as some water stains in general for lake water in general. What products do you use that can be applied and wiped down after a weekend of use to keep the boat shiny and clean.

I use Babe's Boat Bright which is a spray wax and cleaner in one. Spray it on and wipe off with terry cloth and it should remove water spots and give it a nice shine as long as the boat has a good coat of wax on it to begin with. The lakes I frequent don't have very hard water so I don't get spotting very bad anyways so you might not get as good results but I have been happy using it.

2nd the Babes stuff. Babes spot remover is good too. Heard about a high dollar wax today called zaino. Thinking about giving it a shot.

My vote as well for Babes, when I bought my boat last fall, it didn't look like the previous owners ever wiped down the boat, there was heavy water spotting on all the chrome. The babes spot remover took it off with very little effort, and everything looks like new again. I'm really impressed with the whole Babes line, I've used just about everything they offer for inside and outside of my boat.

I have a gallon of Babes and bottles of Lucas slick mist. I find the slick mist does a better job with less effort, the two products are right next to each other on my detail shelf, the only time I use the babes anymore is when I run out of the other. I have also tried 2 or 3 other products but these are my two favorites. My 2005 has not been waxed in 5 years but it looks and feels like it has a fresh wax job. I wipe it down with this every time it comes out of the water.

Lime away, its most likely calcium deposits which is why lime away makes it virtually effortless. A little lime away on a micro fiber towel then rinse and chamois. I deal with the same issue on my boat. Works like a champ. I always follow with spray on wax. Been doing it for years.
