    GT40 low oil pressure

I just changed the oil in my model year 2001 SNCB and now i have poor oil pressure. It is roughly 20psi at idle and goes up to 40psi at higher rpm. I used Valvolene VR1 40wt as i heard this is good stuff. I also used the K&N oil filter. Any ideas on how to get the pressure up? Ive read about changing to 15-40wt, will that help?

First, hook up a calibrated oil pressure gauge. The only thing the stock Teleflex oil pressure tells you is the oil pressure is higher a high RPM, than at idle.

Were you using a K&N filter before you noticed an oil pressure change? Personally, I use a Motorcraft FL1-A oil filter., and Valvoline VR-1 40 weight

you can check manually but that doesn't sound too low to me.

I replaced the factory gauges a while back with new Faria marine gauges. I did have a K&N in there prior to the new oil change so everything is consistent. Ill try the motorcraft filter and see what that does. I do notice however the oil pressure is higher earlier in the session then the end. However the engine temp is always around 175deg F, and rarely over (most of the time a smidge under).
