I just read some of the damper plate threads and am a bit confused. For the first time ever I had a racket (noise) when I put it reverse. Then it went away and never came back regardless of idle or in and out of forward or reverse. I am guessing it is damper plate. I pm'd xrichard to see if he has the bulletin with engine range. If mine is in the range even though out of warranty maybe I can get some help dollar wise. But if it is intermittent that could be a problem. Probably have to wait til it is consistent to be diagnosed. I mean I am thinking I should not sweat it until it is consistent with problem?
The threads i read are confusing cause in a couple spots it said rattle was normal per pcm or buxton or something.
Has anyone did the job themselves on a vdrive? Any write up's I am not too squeamish so don't mind doing myself. But would like to wait til end of season.
Trying to piece the steps together:
Remove gas tank
Remove prop shaft...not sure how to do this
Remove v drive
Remove Tranny
Remove starter
remove bell housing
remove damper plate
check flywheel
check rear main seal
reverse above
What am i missing?
