How much ballast are you running?

No, I don't think you can go wrong with any of those props (1433, 1617) compared to what you have now. Sounds like you've already crossed off the 1579 - I can't say I blame you for that. The 1433 is the same pitch, larger diameter, and is going to perform much better without really giving up anything. You said you don't do any barefooting but do pull the occassional skier/tube. So, I'd ask myself 2 questions:
      1) how fast do you pull the skier/tube
      2) and how long does it take you to get from the ramp to your riding spot, and how fast do you like to drive to get there

My house is lakefront (my boat is in the backyard on a lift), and it is only about a 10 minute boat ride to our primary riding spot. The only time we do anything other than wakeboard and surf is when my brother is in town. He is a very good slalom skier, and skies at 36 mph, so when he's in town i put the stock 1579 back on because the 1617 will probably be 4600 - 4800 rpm at 36 mph, versus 4200 - 4400 with the 1579 (I'm guessing the 1433 is going to be similar, if not a little bit fewer rpms than the 1579).

The 1579 does fine in my boat (full stock ballast + 750s on top in the back and 650 integrated bow sack up front), if there's only 3 or 4 people in the boat. Any more than that and it is too slow on plane for my liking, although it will do it. The 1617 has no problem getting on plane no matter how much ballast, people, gear, or gas is in the boat.

If I were to bend my 1579 beyond repair (which is a common occurance on my lake and river), I'd replace it with the 1433 and use it as a back-up.

You'll feel like you have a new boat going from a 13.5 x 17.5 to any of the 14" options you listed.

When we are at our home like, I literally pull away from the ramp and idle to our riding spot while filling the ballast. Ballast is full by the time we get there. We go to Norris lake 2 to 3 times a summer. When down there we have a 10 min drive to where we ride. And typically when I'm pulling a skier, they're learning. So really top end isn't too important. It looks like with either I can expect about 38-39 MPH with the rpms varying by 100-200.

Just checked on wakeprops and both are the same price, so that's not helping to narrow down. I run the 400# bags on top of the stock tanks in the rear. Mine still has the wedged tanks and I could never get the 750's to fill much, so I stuck with the 400,'s because they fill completely. I run a 750# bag in the bow walkway and stock tanks full. I'm thinking that with my setup the main difference between the two would mainly be engine rpm, with the 1433 running a little lower at the same speed. This is just a theory.

On another note, wakemakers has the 10% of to PN members and with wakeprops being part of the same company, do they also offer the 10% on the props?

I'm still on the fence, I definately don't want the 1579. The 381 that is currently on there will become my spare. From a dimension standpoint, the only difference between the two(1433 & 1617) is the pitch. So to pose another question what impact does pitch only have in performance?

I wish the freaking rain would stop so that we can go out and ride....

factory is 2100 lbs. Plus peeps. Usually at 4,000' altitude. 1433 could get the job done with our 23' boat. I've since moved to the 2315, which just kills it.

lower pitch = lower gearing (diameter and cup staying constant).
