    G23 Ballast Bag Sender Operation?

I was wondering if anyone knows how the bag level sensors work on the G23s?

I assumed since it was bags it would just be estimated in the LINC screen based on time the pump ran x pump rate, however, my dealer informed me that there are level senders on separate hoses off the tanks but he did not know how these worked?

I am wondering if these would be able to detect in real time, for instance if one bag were to get a hole would the LINC screen show that bag draining?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

the time i have played with them and have taken the observation plates off to see whats hook to them , my conclusion is that there is no sensors , the link system does keep up with time, filling and draining , they can get off a little , when i fill the ballast I wait for the over flow, that way I know they are full some times I have to hit the fill button twice but usually its less than a min before the water starts cumming out on the second hit , also on the lift I will hit the empty and the water comes out for a few minutes. but if you start with 1/4 full and later want to fill 3/4, link system remembers and does its best to stop at 3/4.... to me its just another tool to use to perfect the wave to the level of rider, I look at shape and size of each wave on each side of the boat to be a better measurement of what I am trying to accomplish

Gotta be on timers. I tested with piggy backing extra ballast last year, and the main bags would say they are empty, when they were actually full (from the extra bags draining into them).

My level gauge is never accurate. Not even close. It will show bags are full when they are only half. I have the access plates off so I can physically check the level of the bags. I hope this is fixed on the 14's.

There definitely are sensors, i had to have one of mine replaced when it continually showed my port tank as 'full' when i started the boat.
I believe the dealer said they measured pressure somehow, but not positive.

Mine must be broken - don't have a G, but my 2013 200V shows full sometimes when I start the boat. I like the idea of draining them when on the lift (at least testing that as an option), never thought of that. Would that ruin the pumps at all if there is no water in the tanks?

I do like that other boats throw the water out the ports on the side of the boat that way you can see that it is actually draining. With the drain being under the boat you truly never know if it is emptying.

Mine occasionally show partially full ballast after I know the have been completely emptied them (usually when I restart the boat). When this happens I reset the gauges. Not a big deal. Since I adjust the wake on the fly (fine tune) it is not a big deal to me

This is what I was thinking, something based on pressure to detect the level however I can figure it out exactly.

I have not noticed them being off by much, just more wondering if they actually read the bag level so if one had a hole you could catch it. Sounds like they might not if emptying a piggy back system shows them empty when they are still full as Ironj mentions.

You can recalibrate the sensors to read full or empty. I noticed this option being present in the LINC as part of a software update after I had the NSS installed.

I just had my 2013 G23 on vacation for 8 days, at least 4 of the days the bags would read 1/4 to 1/2 full. It actually seemed like they were full though because in the morning we would cruise to get ice and notice that it seemed more difficult to get up to speed. I would start draining them and it would show the weight go down slowly from 1000+ pounds or so. I just had mine delivered 7/17.

I will take a look for this option to see if mine is the same.

So you noticed your bags were filling without you telling them to? and the senders were registering that? or you left them full and they were only read 1/4?

We drained the bags every night as we were anchored and didn't want as much weight in the boat if the wind picked up. I guess there is no way to know if they were self filling or not but I do remember when I would drain them the next morning it really seemed like they were draining and not just a sensor error.
